The Saga of the Lock

The building's answer to our previously mentioned lock problem was first to prop open the door, and then to again just disable the lock. That is understandable, I wouldn't really expect them to do anything over the weekend. I probably should expect them to, but I keep my expectations very low.

The reader registers the card, and appears to be functioning and the lock itself is functioning fine, it can still be unlocked from the intercom. The odds are very good that it is a 'software' issue. Even if it is something simple I doubt these buffoons would be able to figure it out for themselves, but I was hoping they might call up technical support for the system and maybe even get it fixed today. I didn't expect it. After all, it doesn't directly effect them, and there is relatively little that we as tenants can do about it. When I saw someone entering the building ahead of me needed to get out his key, I was at first pleasantly surprised at the relative speediness with which they had fixed the problem. Until, of course, the card didn't work, and so we were again locked. He hit a few doorbells, though he gave some time inbetween, and eventually someone buzzed us in.

The other guy was ranting about how you can't trust electronics, that fancy is not always good and so forth. I avoided pointing out that these dirtbags surely went the cheapest nonsense they could find, in order to be able to tell their insurance company that they had an electronic key system and save themselves a bunch of money.
