April Fools Joke on Myself

My main morning guy is on vacation for a few weeks.  This has resulted in scheduling myself to work the early shift, which means showing up to work at 7 am.  Oddly enough, I've been enjoying the switch to being a morning person, which is something i havent been since high school.  We'll see how long that lasts though.

I've been getting up at 4 am.  This gives me an hour to eat breakfast, drink coffee, and wake up.  I might do a few minutes of gaming as well, to help me wake up of course.  That leaves another hour to get ready, and an hour for commuting.  Far more time than I would normally need for either, but it can be nice to not be rushed.

Last night I was up a bit longer than I had intended on staying up, so I set the alarm to 5 am instead, figuring I would postpone the breakfast and coffee until I got to work.  When the horrid alarm jolted me awake, I popped up with a surprising burst of energy, turned the alarm off, and headed to the shower.  That burst of energy died as soon as the warm water hit.  I was the surprised by just how tired I felt, it didn't seem to match the amount of sleep I had managed to end up with.

After finishing the shower, I saw I still had a good bit of time, and crawled back into the warm bed.  I'm not sure if I actually fell asleep or not, though I suspect I did eventually.  I ended up getting out of bed again when the clock read a few minutes after 6.  Once I was finally ready and out the door, I thought that it looked a bit darker than it should.  When I stepped out of the subway station near work, it was still dark, which had me very confused.  I convinced myself that it must have been dark at 7 recently and I was just remembering incorrectly.  When I stepped into the sandwhich shop/grocery store to get some breakfast, I looked over at the clock on their wall.  And saw that it read 6 am.  Finally it occurred to me that somehow the bedroom clock must have been pushed an hour ahead.  Thus I seem to have played an April Fools joke on myself.

On the bright side, I just saw an absolutely amazing sunrise out the office window.  The corprorate office recently moved to a different floor, and some of us moved into where the corporate office was located.  It was really quite the view over the Williamburg bridge.  It almost made up for being hear so damned early!
